Beginner Plan

Both plans below run 13 weeks (roughly 90 days) and are organized around the same core principle used throughout this blueprint: technique before speed, and speed before distance. Every week includes dedicated technical drill work from Sections 2-8 and the 15-drill library, plus field work to translate the technical gains into real, measured distance.

By this point most players can feel real progress, but this is also the stage where the remaining gap to 300 feet often comes down to one or two small, specific timing issues rather than anything a generic drill list can catch. If your Week 10 distance test isn't moving the way you'd expect given how much cleaner your mechanics feel, that's a very solvable problem — just usually not one that's solvable by reading more. Both plans assume 3-4 training sessions per week, roughly 45-60 minutes per session. Track every field-work distance using a rangefinder app so your progress is measured, not guessed at.

This range is almost always a technique and sequencing problem, not a power problem. The priority order is: grip → standstill → X-step timing → brace → eliminating rounding. Disc selection should stay conservative (understable mid-ranges and putters) for most of this plan, since fighting an overstable or high-speed disc while you're still building mechanics will actively slow your progress.

Weeks 1-2: Grip and Standstill Foundation

Every session: Grip practice session (Section 2.7) as a warm-up. 3x/week: Standstill Throw Drill (Drill #1) — 15-20 reps per session, putter and mid-range only. 2x/week: Slip Test and Wobble Check (Section 2.5). Field work: 30-40 throws per session at 70% effort, standstill only, tracking your clean-mechanics distance. Goal by end of Week 2: a repeatable, wobble-free standstill throw with a consistent, understood grip.

Weeks 3-4: X-Step Footwork Introduction

3x/week: Slow-Motion X-Step Mirror Drill + Crush the Can Drill + Footwork Line Drill (Section 3.4), no disc, 10 minutes total per session. 3x/week: One-Step Drill (Drill #2), 15-20 throws. 2x/week: Progressive Field Work (Drill #13), mixing standstill and one-step throws, mid-range disc, 40-50 throws. Goal by end of Week 4: comfortable, controlled one-step throws with a felt, active brace.

Weeks 5-6: Full X-Step and Brace Integration

3x/week: Full slow-motion X-step with disc (per progression in Section 3.3), 15-20 throws at 60% effort. 2x/week: Core Coil Drill and Bracing Wall Drill (Section 6.5). 2x/week: Marker Progression Drill (Drill #14), starting at a comfortable distance and moving back only when 7/10 throws are clean. Goal by end of Week 6: a full-speed X-step you can repeat without your standstill mechanics breaking down.

Weeks 7-8: Pull-Through and Power Pocket Refinement

3x/week: Elbow-High Cue Drill + Right Pec Drill + Closed Shoulder Snap Drill (Sections 4.4/5.3), 10 throws each. 2x/week: Reach-Back Wall Drill (Drill #7) to prevent early rounding habits from creeping in as speed increases. 2x/week: Progressive Field Work with a fairway driver introduced for the first time, staying at 70% effort. Goal by end of Week 8: a technically clean full-speed throw, verified by video or mirror check, with no visible rounding.

Weeks 9-10: Rounding-Proofing and Consistency

3x/week: full practice session sequence pulling from Sections 4, 6, and 7 — Slow Straight-Line Drill, Delayed Power Drill, and a self-diagnosis pass using the framework in Section 7.3. 2x/week: Marker Progression Drill, now pushing distance markers back as your technique holds up. 1x/week: play a casual round focusing entirely on technique, not score, using only discs you've grooved in field work. Goal by end of Week 10: consistent clean throws across multiple disc types, distance beginning to noticeably climb.

Weeks 11-13: Distance Push and Disc Progression

3x/week: Progressive Field Work, gradually reintroducing slightly faster/more neutral discs as your technique supports them (Section 1.3). 2x/week: Resistance Band Pull-Through Drill and Rotational Core Power Drill (Drill #15) for supplemental power. 1x/week: Marker Progression Drill pushing toward and past the 300-foot mark specifically. Final week: run the Progressive Distance Standstill Drill (Section 8.3) again and compare to Week 1-2 numbers as a clean measure of real mechanical improvement, separate from your full-run-up numbers. Goal by end of Week 13: consistent 300+ foot drives with clean, repeatable mechanics you can trust under real playing conditions.
